Back in 2008, a working party was set up by ADSHE to address the issue of quality in the provision of specialist 1:1 study skills and strategy support for students with neurodivergent profiles, and to draw up guidance for best practice. Since then, the role of 1:1 support has changed, and these guidelines have been updated to reflect those changes.
ADSHE’s Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Specialist Support for Neurodivergent Learners in Higher Education aim:
- to share knowledge and disseminate good practice, including promoting and developing the understanding of all aspects of neurodivergence (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD)
- to share and disseminate knowledge of the impact of a neurodivergent profile on mental wellbeing and learning
- to clarify and promote students’ entitlement to neurodivergent support within individual institutions and throughout the sector.
As such, they are not exclusive to ADSHE members – please do share amongst your networks.
